As a decade-long principal, primarily in underserved communities, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of integrating social and emotional learning (SEL) with mental health practices. The two areas are intertwined and form the backbone of student well-being and success. By laying a solid foundation in SEL, we provide our students with academic knowledge and the essential life skills needed for emotional intelligence, resilience, and positive mental health.
